Find Texas Assisted Living, TX Senior Housing

Costs of Assisted Living TX

There are several reasons a person would hesitate about moving into an assisted living home. It is a huge shift, after all, from living at home. But sometimes those fears turn out to be unfounded. The reasons that seem so important turn out to be a little overdone. The most common reason people don’t move into an elder care community is the most obvious: the cost. People think assisted living TX facilities are too expensive. But is that really so? Let’s look.

A common price range for Assisted Living facilities is between $2500 and $3500 per month. Over the course of a year, then, you can easily pay $36,000. Is that more than a senior’s current mortgage payment? Of course it is.

But there is much more that you get at an assisted living TX facility than just a place to live. You also get built in amenities like meals. Most facilities provide three meals a day in the dining room. If you are living there and eating in the dining room, that will all but eliminate the cost of your monthly grocery bill. And how much do you spend on that now? $400? Or more? $500?

There are other things, too. How much do you pay in property taxes or home insurance? Utilities? Garbage service? Gas?

When you start to combine all the costs that you will no longer have at an assisted living TX facility, it begins to even out far better than you probably first thought. So before you throw away the idea of moving into an elder care community, do yourself a favor and add it up. You might be surprised…
