All right, so we are going to give you yet another idea for a Christmas gift for your aging loved one who is in an Assisted Living facility. First, we talked about the Kinnect for XBOX 360 (a bit of a stretch for most seniors, admittedly…), and then we discussed the Amazon Kindle. Today, we have a slightly less technologically advanced gift idea, but still an electronic one.
Idea #3 – A digital picture frame.
You have seen those digital picture frames before when you walk around Wal-Mart, and you might have rolled your eyes a bit. It’s okay, I did, too. If you aren’t familiar with them, think of a traditional picture frame, but instead of having a regular picture inside, it rotates digital photographs every 10 seconds or so. They seemed a bit cheesy to me, especially when I work on a computer all day, and the idea of a rotating screen saver is at least ten years old hat. But trust me here: it will not seem at all corny to grandparents when faces of the young ones they love get flashed up there.
Rotating picture frames are very easy to load and reload. Still, if you want maximum effect for this gift, you should definitely buy it yourself, open it up, and load it up with pre-determined pictures of you and the family. That way she will see you guys immediately when she opens you guys, and then she can find a nice place on the wall to show off her family.
